I’m not sure if I believe in luck. They say that koi are lucky. Am I painting them because they are lucky and I need all the luck I can get right now? No, I am painting them because they are beautiful and tranquil and  vibrant against a dark background.  Would I like to believe in luck?  I have been very lucky in my life and I know that some people have been very unlucky.  We can’t  make our luck.  Sometimes we are handed a very unlucky situation and no matter what, finding the silver lining is impossible. I can think of several examples but not in my life. I am lucky that the  bad things that have happened to me have  most often also been  the best things that has ever happened to me.

If you can survive it, perhaps their is silver lining to be found.

I’m still looking.

I’m open to it.

It’s been awhile. The girls are back in school and I am back in the studio.  Sigh…it feels good. I think that they would agree, structure is good after a two  month free for all.  They are loving school as much as I am loving painting. I am also working on two portraits that are coming along nicely.
It really is nice to be back. Thanks for your on going love and support.  I am still waiting for  answers regarding health but I am trying to put that aside and just enjoy right now.

“May it be a light to you in dark places, when all other lights go out.”

I also went back into a previous painting I did. It just kept calling to me and telling me it wasn’t done so, I listened.

Here is the reworked painting:

It’s funny where inspiration comes from.  I was at a concert the other day and the band had set up the stage with various lamps. One lamp looked like a globe or orb and I couldn’t stop looking at it. They had set their water bottle in front of it and it almost looked like a figure holding a glowing orb above their head.  It made me think of my warrior of the light and I was inspired to paint this one.  I don’t know if I will go on to paint another but my husband quickly painted out “see it is good for you to go out!” (hermit that I am).

It is so important as an artists to be open for inspiration to make an appearance.  My mantra is always ‘inspiration finds us when we are working’ and this is true.  If we aren’t coming to the page/canvas on a regular basis, it makes it hard to actually manifest our inspiration BUT staring at the page/canvas day in and day out is NOT going to make that happen. Once again, as in most things in life, it is finding that perfect balance that is vital.

Don’t Forget Your Mamma!

It’s mother’s day this Sunday and I am here, reminding you, that she wants one of my paintings soooo bad.

I know this because she was in the gallery shop just the other day, and she told me … OK, OK …. maybe it wasn’t your Mother, but it was someone’s Mother, and she stated just that. She said,  quite forcefully I may add, that she would … what were her exact words? … that she would “love to get one of these (my paintings) for Mother’s day”.

So, I feel that it is my duty to share this little bit of info with you because,  after all, you want to make your Mamma happy, don’t you?  And this just may have been your Mother, we will never really know.

So …. why take the chance of disappointing her. Just give her one of  my paintings and ensure what you have known all along. YOU. ARE. HER. FAVOURITE*, and now you always will be . END. OF. STORY.

God is really only another artist. He invented the giraffe, the elephant and the cat. He has no real style, He just goes on trying other things.

I can really relate to this right now.  Just trying new things. Staying inspired. Working through it.  Not sure where it is going but must keep making marks.
