Mixed Media Artist

Last Call

This is a 9″x12″ mixed media painting on paper covered canvas. The sides are 1″ deep and are painted pale green.
Available on Etsy.

You know, I was thinking of the comparison of the subject of ‘drunken woman’ paintings that many painters did back at the turn of the late 1800s and early 20th century and that of the ‘drunken bar photos’ of young girls you seen all over ‘my space’ and ‘facebook.’

I guess the difference is that the paintings always showed the girls in a cloud of despair, not aware that they were a subject in a painting. In their own little world.
The girls of today, blowing kisses, open-mouthed, cleavage just so, not only know they are they subject, they are usually the one taking the photo!

We’ve come a long way,baby?

Caught somewhere in the middle of the two extremes. Here is my version of a glamorous drunk (I know an oxymoron! But I like to romanticize everything, even being drunk! ).

I’m enraptured by the seductive innocence of this one…although you had me by the sparkles! My inner crow/wild woman loves this painting.
