Thought I would do a small version of the larger piece I did earlier in the year. I loved her total inhibition, she has lost her self in pure joy. I love trying to capture that in a painting.

I am home with two sickies today so once again things I needed to do will have to be put on hold. People ask me “How do you paint with two little kids?” – Well, sometimes you just don’t.

I think I will make chicken soup today. It will do us all good. I can’t afford to get this cold, but it is hard to avoid when they crawl in bed next to you at night with there sniffles and dirty tissues (that they hand you to throw away.)
Hopefully the Cold FX and magic chicken soup will work its wonders and spare me.

I see the ghostly outline of a butterfly just above her forehead…a hint of a recent transformation….I love her glittery throat with its suggestion of treasures disguised as her words…reminding me that sometimes the greatest gift we can give to others is the gift of words and how we say them,
like the title of this post, Maria, “To Call Myself Beloved”…these are a treasure trove of powerful words that wash upon the shores of our soul and make us feel worthy.

And how does one paint with two little kids? I imagine one does it quickly and in spurts.

  2. Maria, this painting is so lovely! : D I literally said, out loud, “Awwww!” when I saw it hehehe. I love it and feel the “beloved” aspect of it, for sure. And I hope your girlies get better soon.
