I just finished reading a book called “The Passion of Mary Magdalen” and this painting, for me, embodies the essence of this book. The main character is “Maeve”, (rhymes with cave), and she is one passionate redhead for sure! A passage from the book:
“This is not a story about faith or faithlessness, reward or punishment, about those who deserve and those who don’t. This is a passion story, passion that breaks time open wide, so that you can taste the mystery inside.”

  2. YUM! And what Shelly said… Yum, yum, yum. The best descriptoin of passion, ever. It is not about being polarized (which, as a culture, we seem to be obsessed with), rather it is about being…completely and totally enraptured with the mystery of the moment. SO much so that you in fact become the moment itself or that you become the act of whatever it is you are doing in that moment. So passionately involved that words are too cerebral to exist in that time and space. There is no good and evil, wrong and right.

Her passion is rising…it is as if she is on an edge. And just beyond that edge is the mystery of that passionate moment. Yum again!
