Secret Blush

5″x7″ mixed media painting on paper covered canvas. The sides are .5″ deep and are painted red.

This painting is available HERE.

Girls blush, sometimes, because they are alive, half wishing they were dead to save the shame. The sudden blush devours them, neck and brow; They have drawn too near the fire of life, like gnats, and flare up bodily, wings and all. What then? Who’s sorry for a gnat or girl?

  1. I enjoy how the black lines around the neck seem to gesture a very conservative collar underplayed with newsprint.

  3. Gorgeous painting and fabulous quote from EBB. Quite profound.

It always amazes me that the work is the size it is. For instance, this piece “felt” like a much bigger painting. It has presence, I think.
