“Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands.”
Anne Frank

I think that this quote from Anne Frank for this painting is fitting because it is obvious that she was so much older than her years. Also, I was thinking about the my girl’s ‘character’ earlier today.  Scarlett is Scarlett. Imogen is Imogen.  They just are who they are and if I really think back to their first days, they have been that ‘character’ from the beginning. I just had to get to know them and now, although of course I can make suggestions, instill values and morals and offer advice, ultimately, I kind of have to accept them for who they already are and who they are yet to be. I am sure, this acceptance will make that  road to discovery way smoother for all of us.  It may be easier said than done, but I am going to give it a try.

Beautiful, Maria…and you are right on the money with saying that when we accept our children for who they really are, life will be a smoother ride!
