I am trying to finish a couple of commissions but in between, I thought I’d do this little piece, definitely inspired by my 13 year old muse’s new hair cut/colour.
I feel like I’ve been away from my studio for a million years. I was so happy to see those girls, even though they are my muses, head to school this morning. But then, they were gone and I was in my studio and boy did I feel rusty. Everything I drew seemed contrived and uninteresting. I reminded myself to keep going and push through it.
“Make it work”, as Tim Gunn would say.
They don’t all start out beautiful, and they most certainly all have their ugly duckling moments but it feels really good when in the end, you can be proud that you didn’t give up on them and pulled something good out of the mess.
(I’m referring to the painting but I guess this could be about raising kids too!)
