I have always loved Georgia O’Keefe, both as an artist and as a strong woman. Her colour scheme and the softness of her lines are very different from my own work but I think I found a happy medium here. I hope you agree.

Inspired by Picasso

Picasso has played such a huge role in inspiring me to paint. Maybe not so much as how to paint but to actually put my brush to work. He once said “inspiration finds us when we are working” and this has been my mantra for almost 10 years now. I discovered, the hard way, that sitting around and ‘thinking’ about painting will never, ever inspire me to paint. The more I work, the more I am inspired. I must always keep the wheels turning. I feel I owe so much to Picasso and I did this painting years ago in order to thank him for helping me in discovering my voice. I have never made a print of this work before, this is the first time I have made this one available as it is from my private collection.
