“It is a happiness to wonder; — it is a happiness to dream.”
― Edgar Allan Poe, Complete Stories and Poems
I remember when I was first able to call myself beloved, I was actually going through a divorce. I emerged from those dark days full of wonder. Everything around me seemed new and beautiful. Why had I not seen how beautiful everything was? It wasn’t different, but I was. I was happy. Generally when we are in a happy state, we can find wonder so easily, we trip over it, it cannot be missed. It is the dark days that seem to blanket our wonder and our dreams. Not unlike finding inspiration in our work by working, we have to find wonder in the world by purposefully wondering. It is a struggle but the old saying ‘you have to help yourself to be helped’ can be applied here. We can kickstart wonder, but often it requires a self inflicted kick-in-the-butt.
Go forth and wonder ❤
