It has been very dreary in Edmonton for the last few days. It’s been warmer, so I am not really complaining but the sun has not been out and on Sunday it was so foggy we couldn’t even see downtown from the loft window. All that said, I can’t help thinking about spring and summer. It comes so fast when it starts and the girls and I have even got some seeds to start inside. We don’t usually do this because … CATS… but this year we thought we could start them in my studio ( a no cat zone). Speaking of the studio and of things I have never done before, I am in the process of filming my workshop for the PAINT YOUR HEART AND SOUL 2019 year long, online painting class. Yesterday’s work may not have had the results that I wanted, my bun made several unwelcome appearances so I have to change where I position the camera. That being said, I am excited about how everything else looked and can’t wait to start editing it together.
For those of you that have been asking me about this workshop, I have included the link for more info HERE. I will be doing a demo of one of my floral paintings and one of my portrait paintings.
12″ x 12″ mix media/ encaustic painting on wood. The sides are red and are 1.5″ deep. This painting is SOLD
This Happy Chicken is a 13″x19″ mixed media painting on rag paper. This painting is flat and would need to be matted and framed by you. She is available HERE in my Etsy shop or you can contact me directly firstname.lastname@example.org
Sometimes when I am making a reproductions of my paintings, I mess up. I use really lovely (and expensive) rag paper so the idea of it it going to waste is upsetting to me. I am a paper lover, through and through. I always have been. I love working on paper, I love the smell of it, the feel of it, the different weights, the different tooth. So, when a mistake happens, I often use the ruined print as an under painting and making something new from it. This Happy Chicken above is an example of making lemons into Lemonade. I am sure she would happily wave here tail feathers and exclaim “Waste not, want not” to all that would listen.
“Until further notice, celebrate everything.”
These two are available in me Etsy shop. They are encaustic mixed media paintings on wood. The sides are 1.5″ deep and are painting red. They look great as is, no need for framing.

“We come into this world head first and go out feet first; in between, it is all a matter of balance.”
Paul Boese quotes
mental steadiness or emotional stability; habit of calm behavior, judgment, etc.
She doesn’t look that worried, I think she has got this. She just has to remember to breath because I know the first thing I would do if I had a stack of cups on my head would be to panic and hold my breath! The search for balance has been a constant challenge for me. If I were to pick one thing that I struggle with, I would pick balance. Balancing your life, to me, is the ability to stay in the present without losing my eye on the past and the future. To not make everything a mountain. To breath and gain perspective. Most things we do ‘got’. Most things we can handle. The smaller the thing, sometimes, the more I lose my shit. I know that I am not alone in this struggle. I love using the teacups precariously balancing on top of my girls head to play with this real life struggle in a fun way.
What a day it has been! All was going so smoothly and then BOOM, FB just stopped working. I was right in the middle of my online March Solo Auction with Stephanie Gagos and we started to notice that we couldn’t post photos or LIKE comments and then I got completely blocked out of my computer. This has happened to Stephanie before and we thought within the hour everything would be back and running.
It has been awful. We have worked so hard for this auction, painting day and night and then just like that, no one can bid on my paintings because no one can SEE my paintings.
OK, So the last original paintings are going to be given an extension until tomorrow at 9pm eastern time, just so everyone gets a fair chance to see the paintings. We decided not to put BINS on anything just to be fair to people that can still not get FB to work. We are hoping that by tomorrow everything will be sorted but as of right now, I know I still can’t get onto Facebook on my computer and I can’t post anything on Instagram.
These are some of the originals that you can still bid on.
I’m putting the FB link HERE and I am crossing my fingers and my toes that it works for you ❤ https://www.facebook.com/events/393670084793587/permalink/407336990093563?sfns=mo
