COURSE OVERVIEW:
These two lessons explore the beauty that surrounds you, combined with your own imagination, to heighten a simple floral, cat and butterfly painting into two detailed botanical fantasy paintings.
Learn how to create beautiful decorative art that everybody loves! Take your art to the next level!
You will learn about:
-creating composition from combined reference photos.
– using decorative papers and collage to inspire the direction of your piece.
– to look at a painting as a whole to create a unified piece, in both composition and palette.
– to use various mediums and mark making techniques to give your painting more interest, depth and texture.
– to trust in your own imagination rather than always relying on reality based references.
Main lesson: “Ginger Flowers” (1 hour 37 minutes)
In the main lesson, Maria will share her process with you in creating a detailed painting of a fantastical garden featuring her lovely ginger cat. Loosely using a reference photo of flowers and one of a cat, you will combine the two, creating a gorgeous feline fantasy garden painting.

Mini Lesson: Butterflies and Flowers (55 minutes)
In this mini lesson on an art board, you will use paper collage, butterfly cut-outs and a floral reference to explore the beauty of the real world and to learn to trust yourself as the creator of your own painted world in order to create the perfect garden fantasy snapshot.
